The context
A New York tour operator puts forty people from eight countries on a bus. Meeting points are shouted or posted to a WhatsApp group in Spanish, and whoever didn't read it gets left at the stop. Nobody installs an app for a five-hour tour, so it has to open from the QR code on the bus and speak the language of whoever opens it.
What the system does
- It opens from the QR code on the bus: language, booking number and permissions, with no account and no password. The booking already says who you are
- Eight languages, chosen before anything else: Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Japanese and Chinese
- The first screen is the stop where the group is and the time to get back on the bus, with a countdown. The catalog is in the third tab
- Step by step for every stop: how to get there, what to know, photos and video. The audio guide is read by the phone's own voice, in the chosen language
- The map shows the route, the bus, the passenger and the latest meeting point, with the walking distance
- The guide's alerts arrive translated: meeting point, back to the bus, change of place and delay are templates written in all eight languages
- Chat with the guide with quick replies, location sharing in one tap, and the booking with its voucher, its activities and what's left to pay
