The context

Counting calories by hand gets abandoned in the first week: every meal is five searches in a food database and a portion you have to guess in grams. The photo replaces that data entry, and what's left to do is correct what the model didn't get right.

What the system does

  • Recognition of the food on the plate from a photo
  • Portion estimate for each item, with the confidence level in view
  • Correct grams ingredient by ingredient, with the total recalculating
  • A card for a meal already logged: which ingredient carries which share of the calories
  • Daily target from Mifflin-St Jeor, with goal, rate and macro split you can edit
  • A streak of logged days, with the calendar of the weeks before
  • Weight and intake over the last eight weeks, to read the average and not the day
  • Profile, units and notifications in a settings screen
