The context
A trip with four people where each one pays whatever falls to them. At the end there's a spreadsheet nobody wants to maintain, an argument about who had the wine, and a tab that goes around the WhatsApp group for six months because settling it means eight crossed transfers.
What the system does
- Receipt scanned and read line by line, with the doubtful ones flagged to confirm
- Split by item: whoever didn't have the wine doesn't pay for the wine
- Tip and service prorated by consumption, not in equal parts
- Netted settlement: three transfers instead of the twelve debts of everyone against everyone
- Your own balance at the top, which is the only thing anyone opens the app to find out
